چکیده

Melatonin, a substantial hormone, is natural antioxidant agent that functions as protector against the harmful effects of free radicals. Studies have found “exogenous melatonin” applications positive effect on growth and development plants. This study investigated adaptation seedlings were transported from nursery to afforestation site for process planting. In 2019 2+0 aged bare-rooted Kastamonu/Taşköprü Anatolian Black pine seedlings, which are suitable planting in semi-arid areas, selected research materials. Four different doses (250, 500, 1000, 1500 μM) administered through two methods (root-dipping needle-spraying). Morphological seedling characteristics bioactive chemical variables measured control group treated with melatonin. Antioxidant enzyme activities identified. When both needle-spraying root-dipping melatonin application evaluated terms morphological biochemical variables, best results determined low (250 500 μM). The suggest provides support metabolic resistance temperatures climatic conditions.

Variation in cone and seed characteristics in a clonal seed orchard of Anatolian black pine [Pinus nigra Arnold subsp. pallasiana (Lamb.) Holmboe].

Cone and seed characteristics of Anatolian black pine were investigated in a clonal seed orchard for two years, 2002 and 2006. The orchard, originated from Kastamonu-Karadere seed stand was established in 1993 by using 1 year-old grafts in an area of 13 ha, at Hanönü-Günlüburun, northern Turkey and includes 30 clones. The results showed that, significant variation exists among clones for 14 of ...

Traditional Tar Production from the Anatolian Black Pine [Pinus nigra Arn. subsp. pallasiana (Lamb.) Holmboe var. pallasiana] and its usages in Afyonkarahisar, Central Western Turkey

BACKGROUND Tar is one example of a plant product used in folk medicine and it is obtained from Pinus nigra Arn. subsp. pallasiana (Lamb.) Holmboe, which is very common in the West Anatolian Region. Old trees that are good for kindling and have thick trucks are preferred to obtain tar. Tar is used not only as traditional medicine but also for protection against both endoparasites and ectoparasit...

The effects of heat treatment on some mechanical properties of laminated black pine (Pinus nigra)

Black pine (Pinus nigra) has high industrial usage potential and large plantation in Turkey. Larch wood was treated with heat to determine its mechanical properties, such as bending strength and pressure and order to determine its adhesion strength. Laminating adhesives are used for the construction of polyvinyl acetate and polyurethane. Heat treatment was applied to the samples at 100-150°C fo...

Studies on antimicrobial activity of pyramidal black pine (Pinus nigra ssp. pallasiana var. pyramidata): an endemic plant close to become extinct.

Turkey is one of the richest areas at middle latitudes in terms of plant diversity. One of Turkey's (Anatolia) endemic plants is pyramidal black pine (Pinus nigra ssp. pallasiana var. pyramidata). But, it was observed that the pyramidal black pine, which is part of Turkey's important biological richness, came close to become extinct. This study was carried out to investigate the drying of the p...
